Pay Range: $60,450 - $63,900
Pay Determination: Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description:
The Qualitative Data Repository (QDR) at the Center for Qualitative and Multi-Method Inquiry (CQMI) invites applications for a postdoctoral position, “Postdoctoral Scholar in Data Ethics and Research Openness,”. QDR and CQMI are part of the Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs in the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. CQMI aims to enhance Maxwell's reputation as a leader in qualitative and multi-method research, advance transparency in research, and coordinate related activities both within Maxwell and across Syracuse University. QDR is a trusted repository dedicated to curating, preserving, and publishing data from qualitative and multi-method research. Funded by the National Science Foundation, private funders, and Syracuse University, QDR serves a range of disciplines in the social, behavioral, health, and education sciences. It is one of a few U.S. social science repositories certified by CoreTrustSeal. QDR's mission is to encourage researchers to share qualitative data, build infrastructure to support research openness, and promote institutional change to advance data sharing.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will be integral to QDR's activities, helping to organize and participate in workshops and events related to ongoing projects. This role offers the opportunity to present at professional venues, expand their professional network, and raise their profile. The scholar will also be involved in CQMI and QDR's fundraising efforts, gaining experience in grant proposal writing and submission. Additionally, the scholar will contribute to publications related to their work, enhancing their scholarly output. The position will also involve supporting QDR's sustainability initiatives, including data annotation, verification, and teaching with data.
QDR has a strong track record of mentoring junior scholars and is dedicated to helping the Postdoctoral Scholar advance to the next stage of their career. The scholar will be mentored by the Director and Associate Director of QDR.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in information science, a social science, or another relevant discipline in hand by the time of appointment, or verifiable plans for completing all requirements for the degree by the month in which they begin the position. They should also have some knowledge of and experience with data ethics, human participant protection, and/or the use of data in research transparency, reproducibility, and pedagogy.
Job Specific Qualifications:
• A strong background in information science and/or social science
• A strong interest in qualitative data and research methods, open science, and research evaluation
• A research program focused on data ethics, human participant protection, sensitive data, and/or the use of data in research transparency, reproducibility, and pedagogy
• Proven record of securing grants/funding for research
• Experience working productively as part of a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• The position may be hybrid eligible
Responsibilities:

• Engage in research on teaching with data
• Develop proposals and securing grants funding for related research
• Contribute to developing research and strategic partnerships
