Sourcery (sourceryapp.org), an open source, not-for-profit archival document delivery app
based out of the University of Connecticut, invites applications for community ambassadors
to act as local advocates for Sourcery and to help beta test the new version of the app. We
are seeking current or recently graduated PhD/MLIS/MS/MA students based in the New
York City area who are passionate about digital humanities, archival research, and digital
research tools. Sourcery is produced by the University of Connecticut’s Greenhouse Studios
in collaboration with Digital Scholar (digitalscholar.org), the same non-profit corporation
behind Zotero (zotero.org), Tropy (tropy.org), and Omeka (omeka.org). Sourcery creates one
place for researchers to submit requests for digital copies of archival documents and a place
for paid researchers (called “Sourcerers”) to fill them.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Act as a beta tester for Sourcery (complete requests and provide constructive feedback);
- Attend virtual testing workshops, place and fulfill test requests in local archives, contribute to design and UX discussions, and participate in dialogue and provide other feedback as needed;
- Introduce Sourcery to your research/social circles and act as a local point of contact for other “Sourcerers.”
Qualified applicants will demonstrate the following:
- Must be a current or recently graduated PhD/MLIS/MS/MA student at a university in the New York City area;
- Access to an iPhone or Android device running a recent version of the iOS or Android operating system;
